Tools & Resources

Looking for the right tools and the best resources was one of the hardest things when I first started my business. You have lots of options, and plenty of promises and some companies just don’t deliver. It’s easy to waste time and money on resources that just don’t work, but I’ve found those that deliver and then some.

Here you’ll find my top recommended resources and business building tools from creating your website, legally securing your business and everything in between.

Note: Some of these links are affiliate and referral links. That means I’ll receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This also allows me to be able to provide the occasional discount on some services and products to help save you a few pennies as well. I only recommend services I have actually used or that are used by my colleagues and have had great results.

Online Business Tools

There are a lot of companies out there that will host your website, but Bluehost is my #1 recommendation without question. To have your own self-hosted website that you can fully control comes with your own personal URL (mysite.com) up to 5 email accounts (name@mysite.com) and 24/7 customer service support (which comes in handy when you’re new). You have can your website live for as low as $3.95 per month! That’s over $100 savings for my peeps! Click Here to Check out Bluehost

Having a way to directly communicate with your community and customer base is essential to any entrepreneur. No social media site is guaranteed to stick around and if you’re relying on them to keep up with your community, you risk losing all contact with your tribe. ConvertKit makes it easy to identify the interests of your subscribers and manage your community the right way. ConvertKit is by far the easiest email management tool for beginners. Financial Resources

Without question, this is the BIGGEST way I see new start-up entrepreneurs losing money each year because they don’t know how to accurately track and manage their expenses. Knowing the basic legal tax advantages to having a small business is one of the most critical areas of your business to know. Taxbot helps to automate your expenses and know in real-time your approximate tax deductions per year. From GPS enabled mileage tracking to business expenses and income, Taxbot does it all! This is my favorite resource.

Creative Tools

Creating a Brand for yourself and your business is one of the best ways to separate yourself for everyone in your field. We all know the golden arches, we all recognize the commercial jingles and slogans for the major insurance companies in America – but who recognizes your brand when they see it? The content you create alone will not help stand from a crowd, but the marketing and branding married to your content! My #1 go to creative resource from specific fonts, logo’s, website or powerpoint templates, or simply for inspiration for attractive visual content, I go to Creative Market! Many people recommend your local office supply store or vistaprint for basic and cheap business cards when first getting started in your business, but I would suggest that you don’t do that. Most people know a vistaprint card when see and touch one and the basic stock card designs are overused by new entrepreneurs and quickly become a tool to level a wobbly table or a perfect fingernail cleaner. To avoid wasting money and not leaving a lasting impression when someone sees’s and feels your card, you need to check out Cards Direct! They are the only company I allow to handle my personalized office stock from my business cards’ to yearly greeting cards. They even call if they notice a typo or something off with the order your placed! I love the personalized service from Cards Direct and highly recommend them above any other!
